01The school

Known by name.
Raised with care.

Blessed Children Academy is a day school in Siaya for children from about three years old to the end of Grade 6. We keep it small on purpose, so every teacher knows every child: how they learn, what makes them curious, and what they need next.

Our classrooms follow Kenya's Competency Based Curriculum. Children learn by doing: they talk, build, grow, measure, sing and ask questions. They are guided by the shared values that hold Kenya together, and every family is equally at home with us, whatever their faith.

  1. i.

    Learning that sticks

Projects, play and practice built on the KICD designs, with teachers who check understanding every day, not only at exam time.

  2. ii.

    Room to be noticed

Small classes give every child time to speak, ask and be heard, and give quieter children the confidence to shine.

  3. iii.

    Every family belongs

Children of every faith and of none learn side by side. Religious Education is the family's choice: CRE, IRE or HRE.

  4. iv.

    Fed and ready

Mid-morning porridge and a balanced hot lunch (optional) mean children learn on a full stomach.

  5. v.

    Beyond the classroom

Games, music, drama, art and the school garden, so every talent has somewhere to grow. To confirm

    Parents in the loop

A secure parents' portal for report cards, homework, notices and fee statements, any time.

02Learning

One path, from first words
to Junior School.

We teach the Competency Based Curriculum using the rationalised designs from the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). Choose a stage to see what your child will learn.

A gentle first step into school. Through play, songs, stories and routine, children learn to share, to listen and to feel safe away from home, getting ready for PP1.

What fills the day

  • Talking, listening & stories
  • Early number play
  • Art, music & movement
  • Exploring nature
  • Self-care & social skills
How we track progressDaily observation and a simple, warm progress note for parents each term.
Next stepPP1, at about age 4.

Four honest levels, not a ranking.

CBC report cards describe what a child can do. They do not compare children. Every term, parents see each learning area on the national four-level scale, together with the teacher's comments.

  1. EEExceeding Expectations
  2. MEMeeting Expectations
  3. AEApproaching Expectations
  4. BEBelow Expectations

Seven core competencies, practised every day

  • Communication & collaboration
  • Critical thinking & problem solving
  • Imagination & creativity
  • Citizenship
  • Digital literacy
  • Learning to learn
  • Self-efficacy

    03Safe & well

Safe, healthy and happy come first.

Children learn best when they feel safe. These are the promises we make to every family.

    Safeguarding

A child-protection policy in line with the Children Act, 2022. Every adult on the compound is responsible for every child's safety.

    Recorded pick-up

Children go home only with an adult on the family's authorised list, and every hand-over is recorded.

    Meals

Optional 10 o'clock porridge and a balanced hot lunch, billed each term together with the fees.

    Health & first aid

First aid on site and a quick call home whenever a child is unwell. Tell us about any allergies or medical needs at admission.

    Privacy & photos

We never publish children's photos or records. Your family's data is handled under the Data Protection Act, 2019.

    Every faith, every family

No child is treated differently because of their family's beliefs. Religious Education follows the family's choice.

    4. Start school

Receive your child's admission number and portal login, then pay fees only through the official channels.

    • A copy of the child's birth certificate

    Good to know.

Can't find your answer? Call or visit the office. We're glad to help.

At what age can my child join?

Playgroup from about age 3, PP1 from 4 and PP2 from 5. Grade 1 is usually from age 6. Learners transferring from another school join at the grade shown on their records.

Is there an admission test or interview?

No. In line with the Basic Education Act, we do not use tests or interviews to decide admission. For transfers, a short, friendly conversation only helps us place your child at the right level.

    Which curriculum do you follow?

Kenya's Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), using KICD's rationalised curriculum designs. Learners are assessed continuously on four levels: Exceeding, Meeting, Approaching and Below Expectations. In Grade 3 they take KEYA, and Grade 6 learners sit KPSEA, set by KNEC.

Do you welcome children of all faiths?

Yes. Children of every faith, and of none, are equally welcome, and no child is treated differently because of their family's beliefs. Religious Education follows the options in Kenya's curriculum, Christian (CRE), Islamic (IRE) and Hindu (HRE), and we agree the right choice with each family at admission.

How do I pay school fees?

Only through the school's official channels, which are shown on the fee structure and in the parents' portal. We never accept cash, and staff never collect fees.

Do you offer lunch or transport?

Lunch and mid-morning porridge are available as an optional service, billed each term. The school does not run transport at the moment: families drop off and collect their children, and only adults on your authorised list may collect your child.

How will I know how my child is doing?

Through the parents' portal you get report cards each term, assignments, notices and your fee statement. Class teachers are also available by appointment.

Where does my child go after Grade 6?

Learners move on to Junior School (Grades 7 – 9) at a school of the family's choice. We help families with KPSEA and the move to Junior School.

How we handle the details you share with us

Who we are. Blessed Children Academy, P.O. Box 64, Siaya, is the data controller for information you give us through this website and the school portal.

What we collect and why. We collect the details on the enquiry form (your name, phone number, your child's name and level, and your message) only so that we can reply to you about admission or a visit. We process them with your consent, as the Data Protection Act, 2019 requires.

Children. We never publish children's photos, documents or records on this website. Learner records live in the secure school portal and can be seen only by staff who need them and by the child's own family.

Sharing and keeping. We do not sell or share enquiry details. We share learner information only where the law requires it, for example with the Ministry of Education or KNEC. We delete enquiries that don't lead to admission once they are no longer needed.

Learners' records. When a child joins, the school keeps what the law and the child's schooling need: identity and admission details (including the UPI and KNEC assessment number), family contacts, health and special-needs information you choose to give, attendance, assessments and reports, fees, and documents such as the birth certificate and signed consent form. Each member of staff sees only the part their job needs.

Who helps us. Our system is hosted on servers the school controls. Text messages are sent through an SMS provider, and fee payments go through M-Pesa or the bank. These providers act only on the school's instructions and may not use the information for anything else.

How long we keep it. We keep records only as long as the school's records retention schedule allows, and then delete or archive them securely. The admission register and leaving records are kept permanently, as schools are required to.

Keeping it safe. The system uses encrypted connections, individual sign-ins, records of who changed what, and encrypted backups.

Your rights. You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw your consent, by contacting the school office. You may also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
